Crawler Crane fibre pendant

About the Project

Aramid fibre cables for cranes are a break though in improving crane reach and staff safety. Crawler cranes are facing increased challenges in the wind turbine industry, as well as in other areas. Wind turbines are being constructed with taller towers to reach more consistent winds, and large generators also demand that crane booms are long and light. Replacing steel wire as the primary material for tension elements of crane rigging has greatly reduced boom weight and increased load lifting capacity and reach.

A benefit to staff rigging the crane is lower weight components to handle. Often cranes are rigged and de-rigged in open, rough ground environments, making manual handling challenging. The lightweight, supple fibre pendants coil easily into packaging, saving time and risk of injury.
