Rainbow

Sailing Energy / The Superyacht Cup

About the Project

A revered J Class yacht, Rainbow epitomises the blend of classic elegance and modern performance that defines this storied class. Originally used in America’s Cup competitions from the 1930s until the mid-1950s, J Class yachts like Rainbow have recently experienced a renaissance, competing in regattas worldwide with top professional sailors at the helm.

In 2024, Rainbow underwent a significant refit to enhance its racing capabilities. Future Fibres supplied a state-of-the-art rigging package, featuring ECsix fore, aft and lateral rigging. The ECsix multistrand composite rigging ensures unparalleled durability and reliability, crucial for the demanding conditions of competitive sailing.

The entire rigging upgrade was meticulously stepped and commissioned by RigPro, ensuring optimal integration and performance.

Rainbow’s refit highlights the quantum leap in sail, mast, and rigging technology over the past 70 years, transforming these classic yachts into high-performing race vessels while preserving their timeless charm. Rainbow now stands ready to compete fiercely in modern regattas, embodying both historical prestige and cutting-edge technology.
