Synapse. More than load monitoring

Know what your rig is doing. In real time.

Synapse is an integrated load monitoring system built directly into Future Fibres rigging.

It gives you clear, live insight into how your rig is performing, improving safety, setup, and performance.

Think of it as an extra crew member, constantly monitoring your rig and helping you get the most from it.

How it Works

Measure → Collect → See → Understand

A simple system, working continuously in the background:

  • Measure what’s happening in the rig
  • Collect the data onboard
  • See it live while sailing
  • Understand it afterwards

1. Measure

Integrated Load Monitoring

Built into the rig. Not bolted on.

Synapse sensors are integrated directly into rigging components, measuring load exactly where it matters.

  • Direct measurement = more accurate data
  • No extra bulk = clean, lightweight setup
  • Pre-calibrated = ready to go immediately

Where needed, load pins are used — but only when integration isn’t possible.

2. Collect

Capturing load Data Real Time

Synapse PULSE:
Everything flows through one central unit.

Synapse Pulse powers the sensors and collects all data onboard.

  • Connects to your existing systems
  • (NMEA2000, B&G, Garmin, etc.)
  • Records high-resolution data continuously
  • Works offshore and dockside
  • Syncs to the cloud when connected

In simple terms: it quietly captures everything, all the time.

3. See

Live Onboard

Synapse LIVE:
Clear data, when you need it.

View your rig loads in real time through simple, customizable dashboards.

  • Live load values
  • Alerts and safety limits
  • Key performance indicators

Available on the screens you already use — from chartplotters to tablets.

No clutter. Just the information that matters.

4. Understand

Cloud Analysis

Synapse CLOUD:
Turn data into decisions.

After sailing, your data is automatically organised and ready to review.

  • Track peak loads and trends
  • Review sessions in detail
  • Compare performance over time
  • Share data with your team or experts

This is where raw numbers become useful insight — helping you fine-tune performance and plan maintenance.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about Synapse

From how the system works to compatibility, installation, and data analysis, here are answers to some of the most common questions about the Synapse load-monitoring platform.

What is Synapse?
Synapse is an integrated load-monitoring system built directly into Future Fibres rigging components. It measures loads throughout the rig in real time, helping crews improve safety, performance, and rig understanding.
What does Synapse actually measure?
Synapse measures the loads running through rigging components such as headstays, backstays, runners, checkstays, shrouds, and other key systems onboard. It measures direct inline tension for highly accurate load data.
How is Synapse different from traditional load pins?
Traditional systems often estimate load through bending or stress measurements. Synapse measures load directly inline within the rigging system itself, providing greater accuracy and more reliable real world data.
Is the system built into the rigging?
Yes. Wherever possible, the sensors are integrated directly into Future Fibres rigging components. This maintains a clean installation with minimal added weight and windage.
Can Synapse work with my existing onboard electronics?
Yes. Synapse is designed to integrate with common marine electronics systems including NMEA2000, NMEA0183, Modbus, B&G, Garmin, Pixel, FaRo and more.
Can I view the data while sailing?
Yes. Synapse LIVE provides real-time onboard monitoring through customizable dashboards. You can view live loads, alarms, and performance information on PCs, tablets, mobile devices, and selected chartplotters.
Does Synapse store data for later analysis?
Yes. Synapse Pulse continuously records load data onboard. When connected to the internet, the data synchronises securely to the cloud for long term storage and analysis.
What can I learn from the cloud analysis tools?
The cloud platform allows you to review sailing sessions, track peak loads, analyse trends, compare performance over time, and identify how the rig has been used. This supports rig tuning, performance optimisation, and preventive maintenance planning.
Is Synapse only for racing yachts?
No. While high-performance racing programs benefit from detailed load analysis, Synapse is equally valuable for cruising and performance cruising yachts where rig safety, reliability, and understanding are important.
Why is live rig load monitoring important?
Rig loads constantly change with wind, sail trim, sea state, and manoeuvres. Live monitoring helps crews understand what the rig is experiencing in real time, improving decision-making, protecting equipment, and helping crews sail more confidently and efficiently.

Future Fibres is the world’s leading supplier of composite rigging to the race, cruise, and superyacht markets.
