Future Fibres
Robust, fatigue resistant and lightweight, multiC carbon fibre (CFRP) cables manufactured by Future Fibres are applicable to many industries and applications.

Technology

Manufactured from carbon fibre tow with properties picked to match the application, our multi-stranded carbon cables scale to match the project. End termination design provides solutions for placing the cables between fixed points or for post-tensioning after fitting.

For aerospace and automotive, small rod sizes of HEC or IMC create extremely light weight tensile cables for structural bracing, such as tie-rods or cross bracing.  By increasing the individual rod size and using more, the multiC carbon cables scale easily for crane High Performance Fibre Pendants (HPFP), Civil Engineering or offshore applications such as TLP’s tendons for Floating offshore wind platforms. Civil structures such as bridges maybe constructed with or existing structures can be reinforced with post-tensioned multiC cables.

multiC cables can be tailored to application, by modifying fibre choice, rod count and end fitting design. Length is open ended, we have worked to prepare multiC for use offshore in water depths greater than 100m, as will be typical for TLP mooring configurations in the future.

Individual rods share the total load equally, under closely control manufacturing methods managed by ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100. However, the individual rods can act independently from each other in favourable ways.

For shipping or storage purposes, the independent rods allow for tight coiling radi’ the same flexibility in the cable body allows the rods to absorbed impacts unlike solid laminates. Even a compromised cable is “safe” as crack propagation is mitigated by the independence of each rod.

Product Attributes

1
No Length Restraint
Unlike conventional rod systems composite solutions can be made longer than 6m between joins.
2
Ease of Installation
Lighter cable systems means faster and more efficient construction.
3
Lighter, Stronger
80% lighter and 50% stronger than stainless steel rods for similar stiffness. See, Testing 812,000kg break load test, 90mm dia. multiC cable.
4
Reliability
Inert to environmental elements, excellent corrosion fatigue resistance
5
Zero Failures
Millions of load off load cycles without failure
6
Resiliance
Rods are independent of one another, so if some rods are damaged,it does not affect the others in the stay. See multiC Axe test.
7
Sizes
Sizes ranging from 50 to >800,000kg UTS.
8
Terminated
Terminated with a conical/friction style fitting using strengthened Epoxy bonding system or a loop around 2 load bearing spools, called Carbon Eye.
8
Easily Coiled & Transported
