Technology

flexC thermoset flexible carbon fibre unidirectional (UD) belts are manufactured in continuous lengths. In application, the belt can be wound into a continuous loop, and cold-bonded to itself to reinforce structures by adding modulus and/or strength. flexC can be deployed quickly during difficult circumstances using readily and locally available adhesives, its low mass and coiled storage ensures that ample quantities can be easily moved to the required site in difficult conditions.

A large bond surface loaded in shear and not peel is available for effective adhesive application due to the belt concentrically overlapping itself.

flexC Shear And Post-tensioning Of Existing Concrete, Steel & Timber Infrastructure

Increasing flexural and/or shear resistance of concrete and steel with external surface post-tensioning is most advantages when upgrading existing structures.

Layers of thin flexC belt are wrapped around a reinforced concrete, steel or timber beams to form discrete shear strap elements. The flexible nature of flexC belt, means it is simple to feed through pre-drilled holes or slots in the structural member to be reinforced. The number of tape wraps and level of pre-stress is determined by the level of strength enhancement required.

The belts have little build up, leaving plenty of room for additional external infrastructure, such as fire protection.

The belts allow relative slip between the layers during and post-application, shearing the adhesive to relieving excessive stresses until equilibrium is found.

Power Take-Off (PTO) belt

Renewable energy devices are typically operating in harsh environments, harnessing energy from nature. FlexC belt has high tensile stiffness and excellent fatigue properties, as well as being free from corrosion.

PTO belts are found in many applications, including wave energy converters, where linear motion is converted to radial motion to drive generators. FlexC belt can operate offshore, with minimal energy loss due to stretch, making it a uniquely robust solution for converting linear motion to radial motion.

Lifts and lifting

As a PTO belt, flexC converts linear motion to radial to drive generators. When attached to a motor, flexC is a lightweight, fatigue-proof solution for winch drums in lifting applications.

High strength, high stiffness, low weight, and fatigue resistance, flexC provides a unique lifting solution.
