Precision filament-wound composite tubes

Future Fibres manufactures high-performance composite tubes using filament winding—a cost-effective production process that delivers excellent dimensional accuracy and outstanding mechanical properties. CarbonTube products are engineered for demanding structural applications where repeatability, strength and material control are critical.

Filament winding capability

Our filament winding technology supports a wide range of fibre architectures and winding angles. The process enables accurate fibre placement at 0° along the tube length, as well as at any required angle, allowing tubes to be optimised for axial, torsional and combined load cases.

A refined and mature manufacturing process provides precise control of resin content, ensuring consistent quality and predictable mechanical performance across production runs.

Fibre and material options

CarbonTube supports a broad range of reinforcement and matrix combinations to meet specific performance requirements.

Fibre types

• Carbon fibre from HEC to HMC grades
• Glass fibres
• Aramid fibres

Resin systems

• Industry-leading toughened epoxy resin system (standard)
• Alternative resin systems available to suit specific structural, environmental or performance requirements

Manufacturing infrastructure

Our filament winding operation is centred around an 8-metre bed-length machine housed in a climate-controlled facility, ensuring process stability and dimensional consistency.

The system is supported by a full-length extraction bench, enabling efficient mandrel and tooling removal while maintaining surface quality and throughput.

To further support fast and flexible production, we maintain an extensive mandrel library, allowing rapid response to customer requirements and reduced lead times for repeat or bespoke tube specifications.

Key benefits

• High dimensional accuracy
• Excellent mechanical properties
• Precise fibre angle and resin content control
• Wide range of fibre and resin options
• Efficient production for bespoke and repeat designs

Applications

CarbonTube products are suitable for a wide range of structural and industrial applications, including marine, energy, aerospace, infrastructure and advanced engineering projects where lightweight strength and repeatability are essential.
