Engineered Carbon Headstay Foils for Yachts with Furling Jibs

Future Fibres’ CarbonFoil range of headstay foils for furling jibs and genoas is a step ahead of the competition in design and build quality. Engineered for exceptional torque transfer, CarbonFoil protects your sails and helps extend their service life.

• Up to 60% lighter than alloy foils
• Engineered carbon track built for sail loads
• Turn-key package: design, manufacture and installation

Tailor made for your yacht

Each foil is specifically engineered for each yacht. We ensure each foil will handle the required sail loads and furling torque, while matching your headstay size and length.

Tube wall thickness is varied along the foil to optimise strength and weight: thicker wall sections are used in high-load areas, while thin-walled tubes reduce weight aloft where loads are lower. Tailored to your yacht and sails, the foil will comfortably tolerate foot and leech at each reefing point.

Technology

Carbon track strength

Our carbon track is engineered to be the strongest in the market. The internal section profile creates a stronger section designed to withstand the full loads generated from the sail—proven through extensive pull-out testing.

Maximum strength joints

Tapered joins between foil sections ensure excellent join quality and more efficient torque transfer throughout the system. The tapered join is designed to achieve optimum glue film thickness and pressure during assembly.

Preserves your sails

A polished stainless steel feeder delivers reliable hoisting and reduces the chance of damage to the luff tape. Once hoisted, the feeder assembly can be removed from the foil until the next time the sail is lowered.

Turnkey solution

Carbon track strength

A fully integrated package from design through to manufacture and installation.

Stay end fitting sizes are checked for compatibility at quotation and design stage. Bearings are cross-referenced to ensure fit to both the stay and foil, dry-fitted in-factory, and shipped with the headstay.

Benefits

1
Reliability
Engineered to be the strongest on the market, our carbon track has been designed with a superior internal section profile, reliably withstanding the luff loads generated from the sail. This has been proven repeatedly through extensive pull-out testing.
2
Weight savings
Up to 60% lighter than alloy foils.
3
Aesthetics - finish options
Satin finish comes as standard. Alternative finish options and colours are available.
4
Turnkey solution
A fully integrated package from design through to manufacture and installation. Stay end fitting sizes are checked for size compatibility with the foil at the quoting and design stage. Bearings are cross referenced to ensure that they fit both the stay and the foil, bearings are dry fitted to the stay in our factory and are then shipped with the headstay.
5
Preserves your sails
A polished stainless steel feeder delivers reliable hoisting of the headsail and reduces the chance of damage to the luff tape. Once hoisted, the feeder assembly can be removed from the foil until the next time the sail is lowered.
6
Maximum strength
Tapering the joins between foil sections ensures the best possible join quality between sections and allows for more efficient torque transfer throughout the system.

The tapered join ensures the optimum glue film thickness and pressure in the glue joint during the assembly process.

Glue thickness is an important aspect of making a good bond, as is the expulsion of air that is achieved by bringing the two mating conical sections together under pressure during the assembly.
