In 2023, North Star secured victory in the Maxi class of the Regata dei Tre Golfi for the second consecutive year, showcasing her prowess in inshore racing. North Star achieved this while sailing with a minimal crew, utilising innovative technology such as powered winches.
Originally recognised as Rán II, this Maxi 72 design by Judel & Vrolijk boasts an impressive sailing pedigree, having clinched two Rolex Fastnet Races and gaining status as one of the most successful Maxi 72s in history.
Elevating her performance capabilities to new heights, North Star underwent a significant retrofit in 2023, embracing the latest in Future Fibres technology. AEROsix laterals were seamlessly integrated, enhancing the yacht’s aerodynamics and contributing to its exceptional racing capabilities. Future Fibres’ ECsix multistrand technology completes the rigging package (on the forestay and backstay), optimising reliability, efficiency and control.
North Star also incorporated a Southern Spars mast and Synapse load sensors for real-time monitoring, with custom displays and target settings for precision adjustments (boosting both performance and safety). This synergy of Future Fibres products with the latest advancements from around the group enables North Star to keep shining among the world’s best!
