To get the mast sections free we have needed to cut a lot of our beautiful Future Fibres PBO rigging ( Tom - stop rubbing your hands together!!!) this is no mean task and in the heat of the action my Gerber knife managed several cables easily but for shear convenience and ease most of the rigging was ultimately chopped with a yellow handled kitchen knife bought from a supermarket in Bilbao for 8 euros, it was and is - still the sharpest thing on the boat - slicing through our state of the art, high tech fibre rigging like a salami sandwich! In future I intend to ditch all the expensive, but useless diving knives we carry for emergencies such as this in favour of a couple more of these babies.
