| Future Fibres appoints new CEO to lead strategic direction |

Future Fibres, the Valencia based composite rigging manufacturer, has appointed Ewan McLellan as its new CEO.
2007 saw Future Fibres continue to lead the rapidly developing composite rigging market, with high profile wins throughout the year. Its reputation for innovation, and extensive track record, has led to substantial growth. Ewan will draw on his significant strategic experience to support Future Fibres’ position as the world’s number one composite rigging manufacturer.
Future Fibres’ founder, Tom Hutchison said, “Being the first company in our market gives us a wealth of invaluable experience, but to maintain our competitive edge, we need to continue to develop both the product and the business. To achieve this, I set out to recruit a professional strategic leader and we have definitely found that in Ewan.”
Tom continued, “Ewan’s arrival also enables me to get back to what I enjoy most, spending time with customers and developing the technology.”
Ewan is well qualified to lead the charge, with an MA in production and materials engineering from Cambridge University, and over 12 years’ experience in strategic development. He joins Future Fibres from Capgemini where he was the vice president of its strategic consulting practice. A keen sailor, Ewan arrives with a broad understanding of the yachting market.
Ewan remarked, “The opportunities for Future Fibres in this growing market are immense and I am extremely excited to be joining the business at this stage in its development. As the market evolves new technologies and competitive challenges will appear, it’s important for Future Fibres that we continue to anticipate these challenges and have a proactive approach to the future.
Ewan continued; “I look forward to bringing my management experience to the table, working with Tom and the rest of the team to jointly set the strategic direction and maintain best-in-class operational effectiveness.”
The 36 year old Scot is married with twin girls. In addition to yachting he is a keen surfer.
