After a week of highly competitive racing in this year’s Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Sardinia, Future Fibres’ PBO rigs have come out on top again.
Taking first place in the extremely competitive Racing Division in Porto Cervo, was Neville Crichton's Alfa Romeo. Winner of the 2006 Giraglia Rolex Cup, Alfa Romeo benefits from a complete set of Future Fibres PBO Composite rigging. Overall second place went to Hasso Plattner’s Morning Glory, and Bob Oatley’s Wild Oats XI came in a close third. Both Morning Glory and Wild Oats XI have full sets of Future Fibres rigging.
Sir Lindsay Owen Jones’ Magic Carpet Squared was able to take overall victory in the tightly fought Wally Class, with an impressive series of first and second place finishes. Magic Carpet2 took full advantage of its full set of Future Fibres rigging and finished the week with an impressive lead over Dark Shadow and Carlo Sama’s Tango.
Future Fibres is leading the field in the design, manufacture and supply of unidirectional composite rigging for performance yachts. The company has developed an outstanding reputation in the grand prix race market, with all seven of the Volvo Ocean Race yachts and eight of the current America’s Cup syndicates carrying Future Fibres’ PBO. These teams have seen huge performance benefits, due to the massive weight savings Future Fibres’ PBO rigging has over traditional rod rigging.
