Whichever boat prevailed in the Volvo Ocean Race 2005/6, Future Fibres Rigging Systems would have been on a winner. Every team in the race chose to carry a full set of its PBO standing rigging, acknowledging the superiority of the product. Once again, the strength and resilience of Future Fibres’ PBO rigging are proven in a gruelling round the world event.
Skippers have been quick to praise the company’s contribution. Winning skipper Mike Sanderson comments: “The boats are immensely powerful, and all the equipment is put to the ultimate test. The Future Fibres PBO rigging saw punishment in the extreme, and proved itself to be a durable and reliable solution while still offering the grand prix performance the Volvo Ocean Race demands.”
Future Fibres CEO Tom Hutchinson adds: “While congratulating the ABN AMRO One team on its win in a thrilling VOR, we are delighted with the announcement that the start point for VOR 2008/9 is Alicante, and look forward to an opportunity to again work closely with the designers on the next generation of VOR boats.”
Future Fibres moved its headquarters to Valencia a year ago to be on hand to support eight out of twelve of the America’s Cup syndicates.
