Our Products
Unidirectional Composite Cables and Rigging

Future Fibres has three principal standing rigging products that utilise innovative technologies to maximise performance and reliability whilst minimising weight.

Standing Rigging
Aft Rigging
Anti Torsion Forestays

The primary material used in the Future Fibres product is the high performance super-fibre PBO, however several other fibre options are available including Kevlar 49, Vectran and Dyneema. PBO tends to be the fibre of choice because it is amazingly light and significantly stronger than steel. Built using its proprietary continuously wound technique, Future Fibres has developed an automated manufacturing process that produces rigging precisely engineered to a yacht or rig specification.

Future Fibres compliments its cables with unique end terminals, a radius-forming device which provides the fibres with an optimum bearing surface for even distribution of load. The fibres are wrapped around the end terminal and encapsulated in polyurethane moulding, providing a flexible, supportive junction between the terminal and the cable.

Sea Tested Solutions

Over the years many suppliers have experimented with composite rigging solutions, unable to bring as consistent and reliable a product to market, but now competing products are starting to emerge. With a seven year technical and development lead, Future Fibres has installed more standing rigging systems than all other suppliers combined.

Future Fibres full rigging and partial rigging systems have been adopted all the Volvo Ocean Race boats, eight of the twelve syndicates in the last America’s Cup Regatta, and by the majority of Maxis, Open 60’ and Open 60 Trimaran. Based on its success in winning these major yachting projects and feedback from customers, Future Fibres enjoys a significant technical and development lead over other rigging solution providers with regard to the delivery of composite rigging stays.

With the benefit of this experience, Future Fibres has been able to convert years of ‘at sea’ feedback into applied materials research and development of rigging manufacturing processes
