Integrated Design

Philosophy

By working with a compact but highly skilled in-house design team, the communication lines between the client and design/manufacturing team are direct allowing for flexibility and focus therefore optimising the development time and not having the limitations of a big company structure with multiple management layers.

Custom design

Our team is not limited by pre-existing solutions. We offer a 'ground up' flexible design package, which will maximise client input during the development phase.

External design

We are well accustomed to working with external multi-lateral design teams and ensuring delivery of a product that integrates with other suppliers. External design and engineering will be integrated within our process and manufacturing techniques. A dedicated project manager will oversee the information flow to ensure compatibility and adherence to project planning and separate contracts and specifications will clearly outline responsibilities, deliverables and deadlines in order to ensure a smooth integration into the project.

We have existing, strong working relationships with technical specialists including the world renowned Woolfson Unit for wind tunnel and CFD analysis,  ABstructures for structural design and a number of academic technical institutes for materials development.

Tooling

Our technical partner, PERSICO Spa, has 40 years of experience of manufacturing specialist tooling for the highly demanding automotive, aerospace and marine industries

Mast tube and spreaders are produced in female Persico high precision Aluminium moulds in an autoclave with 3-6 bars of pressure at 100-120°C and utilizing hand laid up high and ultra high modulus pre-preg fibre. High precision tooling significantly reduces the amount of finishing required, reducing and optimising tube weight.

Construction

The mast tube will be a one or two-piece section with a side lap join. Mast shells will be made as separate front and aft pieces. These forward & aft shells are co-cured with release film in situ to create an integrated high precision join overlap, allowing them to be separated post cure for internal fit-out. All reinforcing will be internal allowing for minimal external fairing requirements. This method, combined with high precision female tooling, provides the lightest and cleanest possible tube section, resembling aerospace technology, currently unprecedented in this sector.

Quality

Our manufacturing process is fully controlled by a quality assurance program ensuring the highest standards are adhered to and documented. This includes logging of;

                •   Batch numbers & material certificates

                •   Laminate placement

                •   Climate control

                •   Autoclave pressure and temperature control

                •   Post-cure ultra sound scan

Nariida - Brenta 32m

Class: Superyacht
Rig type: ketch
Rigging supplied: Complete sets of Future Fibres Composite standing rigging
Length: 32.04m
Displacement: 60T
Designer: Luca Brenta Co
Launch date: 1994 (retrofit with Future Fibres' Rigging 2006)

Captain of Nariida comments:

"Since replacing Nariida's standing rod rigging with Future Fibres' PBO rigging over the winter we've seen a fantastic improvement - not only in the speed and balance of the boat but also in the stability and motion at sea. Our calculated speed increase of 1.5% has been surpassed, and Nariida has taken on a new life aesthetically, which is a greatly appreciated by-product of the Future Fibres package."
