Future Fibres has achieved numerous firsts for the industry. In 2007 it became the first rigging manufacturer to be awarded Germanischer Lloyd Type Approval for a range of PBO rigging cables. In 2009 it repeated this success, becoming the only rigging manufacturer to hold GL approval for both PBO and Carbon rigging systems.
Independent ISO laboratory tests for ultimate strength, fatigue strength, resistance to chafe and resistance to impact were all performed on a number of different size cables for each material. Production methods, storage and traceability of materials as well as installation and usage manuals were all scrutinised to ensure the end user has the knowledge to maintain the products within the approval rating.
Future Fibres also worked closely with GL to help develop the testing process, modifying the procedures to ensure their relevance to real on the water applications.
