Future Fibres already established as the market leading composite standing rigging manufacturer, is now designing and building complete rigs at the highest level. Growing on the position the company has developed in the Grand Prix race and superyacht sector in rigging, the new spar business is now expanding its team to meet the demand of new customers realising the opportunity available to them. With two Volvo70s and and Open60 now racing with Future Fibres masts, the Spar business has clearly been established and is needing to grow to meet demand.

The current design team need a mechanical engineer who understands clearly how yacht rig systems work to join the team. Experience in composite engineering is very beneficial.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a proven design/engineering background and capable of communicating effectively with industry professionals on the design/development/delivery of their complete rig systems. You will be organised, efficient and ideally an experienced racing sailor with good trade connections and an understanding of the marine rigging/mast industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and draw components and systems for complete yacht rigs in race, performance and luxury markets;
  • Ensure components are designed to in house design criteria and correct mechanical procedures. Documentation of design is critical;
  • Report to the spar design co-ordinator and principal designer;
  • Assist sales team with technical support for quoting;
  • Liaise internally with sales / project management and construction to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget on spec;

Qualities:

  • Energetic, dynamic, organised and efficient;
  • Design / engineering, marine industry background;
  • Knowledge of sailing and yacht rig systems;
  • Experience as a sailor;
  • Previous Engineering experience;
  • Skilled user of CAD packages including AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Catia (preferred), and FEA packages Cosmos, Abqus;
  • Skilled user of outlook, word, excel;
  • Based Valencia - Spanish an advantage but not essential;
  • Willing to travel;
  • Preferably EU passport;
