Service Technician

Role: Service Technician

Location: Valencia

Reports to: Head of Service

Salary: Dependent on experience

Overall responsibilities:

Work within the service department both in Valencia and onsite to manage installation, service and repair work, represent the company and assist with risk management.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Responsibility for technical side of service jobs coming through the factory including sign off and final report to client
  • Available to travel, work onsite and represent Future Fibres worldwide.
  • Take an active role in investigations of issues and concerns
  • Problem solving in high pressure situations to deliver solid technical solutions
  • Race team back-up / support
  • Mast and rigging installations
  • Superyacht Service
  • Feedback on product info and findings from the field into relevant departments of the company to continually improve product and performance.

Consults with:

  • Head of Service
  • All levels of management
  • Mast & Rigging production staff, R&D and project management
  • All levels of client from owner through to deckhand

Term of employment:

  • Based in Valencia
  • Initial 6 month contract
  • Review after 6 months with a view to permanent position
  • Salary – negotiable on experience

Qualifications/skills:

Essential:

  • Solid, practical rigging experience at highest professional levels of the sport
  •  Splicing/rope work
  • Laminating, composites, boat building
  • Strong sense of customer service
  • Excellent personal, organisational and report writing skills
  • Effective working alone or as part of a team

Not essential (but preferable):

  • Machining, fitting and turning

Other requirements:

  • Full driving licence
  • EU Passport

FF Motorsport is an arm of Future Fibres, the market leading composite rigging manufacturer. FF Motorsport has been developing wheel tethers for 10 years and is presently the only company in the world that produces the complete range of wheel tethers from static to energy absorbing tethers. FF has utilised its experience as the leading composite rigging yacht company along with an excellence in materials to produce year on year new products that not only adhere to the FIA regulations but also provide the motorsport industry with the best possible solution. This is achieved by continued researching of new materials and constant in house testing to refine the best method of production for individual materials so as obtain maximum benefit from said materials.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a production and design/engineering background and be capable of communicating effectively to professional purchasers and technical designers within the Motorsports industry. You will be organised, efficient and ideally have experience with composite fibres.

The FF Motorsport Project Manager will report to the Head of dept. and will be responsible for the production and traceability of production along with the organization of R&D projects and managing certain customer relationships. It will include all aspects of production, tether construction, production development & maintenance, stock and involvement in the testing of new designs including maintaining a detailed record of all cables built and tested.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise with customer to finalise design/specification
  • Control Production and production schedule to ensure delivery of a top quality solution, on time and on budget
  • Maintain an up to date stock control
  • Liaise effectively with Purchasing and suppliers to actively manage stock
  • Present accurate testing results to Dept head and R&D to support development of the product
  • Implement and maintain effective production processes to maximise efficiency and quality and ensure traceability
  • Ensure adequate order, as built and delivery information is available

Mech Engineer - Spars

Future Fibres already established as the market leading composite standing rigging manufacturer, is now designing and building complete rigs at the highest level. Growing on the position the company has developed in the Grand Prix race and superyacht sector in rigging, the new spar business is now expanding its team to meet the demand of new customers realising the opportunity available to them. With two Volvo70s and and Open60 now racing with Future Fibres masts, the Spar business has clearly been established and is needing to grow to meet demand.

The current design team need a mechanical engineer who understands clearly how yacht rig systems work to join the team. Experience in composite engineering is very beneficial.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a proven design/engineering background and capable of communicating effectively with industry professionals on the design/development/delivery of their complete rig systems. You will be organised, efficient and ideally an experienced racing sailor with good trade connections and an understanding of the marine rigging/mast industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and draw components and systems for complete yacht rigs in race, performance and luxury markets;
  • Ensure components are designed to in house design criteria and correct mechanical procedures. Documentation of design is critical;
  • Report to the spar design co-ordinator and principal designer;
  • Assist sales team with technical support for quoting;
  • Liaise internally with sales / project management and construction to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget on spec;

Qualities:

  • Energetic, dynamic, organised and efficient;
  • Design / engineering, marine industry background;
  • Knowledge of sailing and yacht rig systems;
  • Experience as a sailor;
  • Previous Engineering experience;
  • Skilled user of CAD packages including AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Catia (preferred), and FEA packages Cosmos, Abqus;
  • Skilled user of outlook, word, excel;
  • Based Valencia - Spanish an advantage but not essential;

This pioneering company has developed the product in the Grand Prix race sector and is now in the process of rolling out the technology to the superyacht and broader race/cruise markets. Whilst expanding into new markets the business wants to consolidate and maintain its cutting-edge position in the Grand Prix race sector and is looking for a project manager to focus on co-ordinating ongoing projects in this sector.

To join an establish project management team who are responsible for co-ordinating customers' projects from order confirmation to delivery and installation. This includes managing the whole customer relationship, optimising margins for the business and realising sales oportunities as they appear.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a solid design/engineering background and capable of communicating effectively with industry professional on the design/development of their rigging systems. You will be organised, efficient and ideally an experienced racing sailor with good trade connections and an understanding of the marine rigging/mast industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist sales team with technical support prior to confirmation, ensuring scope of project and challenges are within budget;
  • Project manage orders through the life of the project from confirmation to installation and sea trails;
  • Liaise between customer, sales, scheduling, engineering and external suppliers to finalise design / specification and ensure delivery of a top quality (often custom) solution, on time and on budget;

Qualities:

You will be an experienced racing sailor with good trade connections and an understanding of the marine rigging/mast industry.

Service Coordinator

Future Fibres is currently looking for someone to join the service team. FF after sales and service is widely regarded as the best in the business and we are in search of a young, dynamic person to assist in driving this high standard and reputation.

The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator, happy to deal with clients on a daily basis, both on the phone and in person, and have some sailing and rigging experience. Sound organisational and administrative capability is a prerequisite as is a reasonably high level of computer literacy in Microsoft office (outlook, excel, word, powerpoint) along with some knowledge of Autocad. An engineering background is not essential but would be a bonus.

The role will include:

  • Working within the service team, backing up the service manager and liaising between all departments within the company
  • Dealing with clients on technical issues and helping to solve problems
  • Tracking FF rigged boats and liaising with clients to arrange service inspections and rigging replacements through our network of agents and technicians
  • Understanding and assessing damaged cables.
  • Project managing service jobs as they come through the factory, liaising with the production team and ensuring the job is scheduled, turned around and delivered to the client on time - often in a very short turn around.
  • Working alongside R & D, tracking and testing cables from the field and feeding information back into the loop.
  • Travelling and onsite service work (inspections, dressing, stepping)

A full driving licence is essential and the position is ready to begin immediately in Valencia, Spain.
